Craftwork Collective is excited to announce an OPEN CALL for eTextile swatches to be included in the exhibition, Radiant Fibers, at the Clive Davis Gallery at New York University.
They invite artists, crafters, coders and tinkerers to submit one eTextile swatch for the exhibition.
Exhibition Description:
Radiant Fibers delves into the artistic interplay of eTextiles and light, exploring how visual narratives unfold through the fusion of circuitry and textiles. Drawing upon the realms of traditional craft and experimental technology, this exhibition showcases a variety of work including large scale installations to small-scale swatches. The artists showcased include alumni of electronic textile camp, an artist-run residency for creative practitioners working at the intersection of craft, computation, textiles, and electronics, as well as practitioners from the larger eTextile community.
Exhibition Layout:
The exhibition will highlight several large-scale eTextile pieces alongside small-scale swatches. Traditionally associated with craft and textile work, a swatchbook is a collection of artist-made samples demonstrating process and experimentation through iterative fabrication techniques, materials, and aesthetics.
The swatchbook is a knowledge-sharing tool in the craft field where work samples, findings, and processes can be documented, celebrating quality workmanship. Swatches and swatchbooks provide an insight into an artist’s process and can themselves possess a presence as part artwork, part artifact, and part research.

Submissions accepted until: 12/20/24
Notification of acceptance: 12/23/24
All works must be shipped to Brooklyn, NY by 1/15/25.
Exhibition opens late January (further details will be provided upon acceptance)
**Shipping**
Shipping is at the artist’s expense
Provide a prepaid shipping package if you would like your swatch returned.
**Technical Constraints**
Swatches should be battery powered, and must be no larger than 8″ X 8″ and hangable with standard t-pins.
Due to the nature of showcasing a number of eTextile swatches, batteries are not provided for your swatch.
