The Public Transport Authority and contractor Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance are seeking to commission AUD$1.3 million artwork for the new stations and public amenity zones along the METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project (LXR). This Expression of Interest calls for an artist team to design and install a connected line-wide graphic artwork across various locations for the LXR project.
The opportunity calls for an artist team to design and produce a line-wide artwork utilising a range of surfaces, including piers, viaducts, and ground plane hardscapes. Public art will become a visual showcase that anchors each station in the LXR Project and unites the broader METRONET program.
The intention of this artwork opportunity is to engage the public, encourage discovery, enhance the experience of the stations, tell stories of place and culture, and create connections across the railway line. Led by a core artist team/collective, with at least one West Australian-based member, this opportunity will be procured as one large commission but span multiple locations. The approach will create a cohesive narrative, anchored by common creative elements, but still tell a nuanced story across the line.

BUDGET: AUD$1,300,000 excluding GST (Design+Construct).
Shortlisted artists will receive AUD$8,000 on completion of Concept Proposal.
