FluxusMuseum is housed in the main section of the old marble factory by the yacht harbour of Parikia, on the Cycladic island of Paros, Greece. It is a place to explore a thread of ideas about life and to be inspired by our unlimited capacity for invention. FluxusMuseum currently operates as a gallery space, cinema and digital print workshop.
About The Prize
After its successful debut FluxusMuseum Prize for Experimental Video is now in its second year.
Over the duration of this year’s prize, €45,000 will be given to participants, with a portion used to support the development of their projects initially and the remainder awarded as prizes at the exhibition’s end.
20-40 proposals will be selected from this initial application and those artists will be awarded €600 each to assist them in executing their proposal. The finished works will then be featured in our gallery space from June – September 2025 as well as on our online platforms. FluxusMuseum will then award remaining cash prizes towards the end of the exhibition period.
FluxusMuseum encourages applications across art forms, whether you’re a visual artist, dancer, performance artist, film maker, animator, writer, actor, musician or none of the above, we look forward to considering your proposals.
We welcome all proposals which are in the experimental spirit of Fluxus, but not in any way bound by any particular understanding of Fluxus; proposals do not need to reference Fluxus directly in any way. In our selection process we focus on the experimental and anomalous; works deviating from the expected norms of narrative structure; works with originality, strong visual style and fresh spirit.
The finished work you are proposing must:
- Be a single channel film able to be shown on a screen/monitor or a projector
- Be new, original work
- Be between 1 and 15 minutes in length.
Your Proposal
We welcome works in progress as proposals for this new work. There are no submission fees. We seek at least two of the following to be submitted as part of your proposal:
- 1 video clip. This could be anything, from a sample of the proposed work, a treatment or even you explaining the idea to camera. Maximum 3 minutes.
- 1 PDF (with images/text etc). Maximum 3 pages.
- One website/social media link showing your work
You do not need to include an artist statement/bio or CV in your PDF or application.
Selected works will be commissioned at a fee of €600. On acceptance of a proposal the Fluxus Museum will pay €300 to commission the work and deliver a further €300 upon receiving the completed work. The completed films will then be exhibited within the gallery space throughout summer 2025 and prize winners announced in September.
All participating artist’s maintain the ownership of their works and FluxusMuseum welcomes artists to screen the commissioned works elsewhere. In commissioning these works FluxusMuseum seeks the rights to exhibit the works in the museum and on our online platforms in perpetuity.
