Helen J Gallery is a contemporary art gallery based in Los Angeles. The gallery features vibrant programming and exhibitions geared towards embracing Korean and Asian culture and the diaspora. We aim to promote artists from various geographic locations and diverse backgrounds, foster cross-continental dialogue, and broaden the understanding of Asian culture in the Los Angeles area and beyond.
Helen J Gallery is seeking a part-time gallery assistant. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and possesses strong communication skills.
The gallery assistant must be able to operate the front desk, answer questions about gallery artists and exhibitions, properly direct sales and press inquiries, assist in writing press releases, and oversee social media. Some art handling and packaging may be required. Job may include translating written materials and correspondences from Korean to English.
Salary: $18 to $20 (Hourly)

Responsibilities
- Greet guests and act as liaison
- Interact with artists, collectors, and gallery staff in a professional manner
- Oversee social media
- Edit/update gallery website
- Maintain updated inventory on Artsy and Arternal (inventory system)
- Answer visitor’s questions about gallery artists and exhibitions
- Properly direct sales and press inquiries
- Operate the front desk as needed
- Assist gallery manager with planning events/opening receptions and communicating with vendors
- Help with installations, shipping, handling
Requirements
Languages:
- English
- Fluency in Korean is a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor’s (Preferred)

Schedule:
- The gallery assistant must be available in-person 2-3 days of the week, from Tuesday through Saturday.
- 7 hour shift
- Saturday shifts as needed
