Calling all artist-run initiatives! Juxtapose is now accepting applications for our next fair.
Who
Juxtapose Art Fair exhibits artist-run initiatives. By this we mean organizations and collaborative projects that are led by artists.
Our goal is to showcase the diversity of the artist-run sector, so we are looking for a wide range of artist-run projects. We are interested in everything artist-run – for example artist-run exhibition spaces, studios, production facilities, activist groups, publishers, collectives, residencies, learning groups, virtual communities, etc.
Please note that we do not exhibit individual artists. If you are in doubt whether you qualify as an artist-run initiative, please email us at juxtaposeartfair@gmail.com.
What
The artist-run initiatives selected via this open call will be included in the fair’s central exhibition, Platform. This exhibition is not curated by theme. Instead we ask the exhibitors to present who they are as an organization.
Each exhibitor will be given the option to build their own space within Platform using our exhibition modules. The modules are wooden boards cut with slits, which can be used to build walls, shelves, tables, and more. Please click here for more information on the modules.
Juxtapose exhibitors will also be invited to take part in a number of networking and learning activities, including our Think Tank discussion groups and meetings with curators from the Nordic Visitors Program.
Where
Juxtapose Art Fair is housed primarily within Godsbanen, a culture center in Aarhus, Denmark. The Platform exhibition will be in Rå Hal, and related activities will take place throughout the house.
When
The fair is open to the public from September 1-3, 2023. The installation period begins August 29, 2023.
Fill in the application form before the deadline (February 5, 2023). We will use this information to make a shortlist of finalists. We will then have a dialogue with each finalist before making the final selection.
There is no fee to exhibit at Juxtapose Art Fair.
