In 2020 OHT founded Nomadic School, a pedagogical and artistic project that moves between mountains, swamps and other rural areas contaminating art with natural and social sciences.
The Nomadic School takes place at 2.000 m above sea level. This year the caravan will be in Val Badia, Trentino Alto Adige / Südtirol, in front of Sas de Pütia from June 2 to 14, 2024. Taking place in the middle of the Alpine landscape, life and study will not be separated and the participants will camp at Ütia de Pütia. By totally immersing itself in the alpine landscape, the Nomadic School intends to leave behind the representational distance cultivated by academic and artistic institutions. Through workshops, experiments, walks, meetings and micro- performances, the participants will be encouraged to reconsider their centrality and periphery within a shared space such as the stage.
The Open Call is addressed to anyone interested in the production and perception of space. People from disciplines such as theatre, dance, architecture, geography, anthropology, philosophy, natural sciences, literature, music, visual arts and design can participate. 12 participants will be selected and they will have guaranteed board and lodging for the entire period. Knowledge of English language is required.
The educational experience is free of charge. Participants will only have to cover their travel costs to the venue.
The participants will share the Nomadic School with some mentors who, respecting their practices, will tackle the role of space and how it produces reality. Mentors are: Lucia Pietroiusti (curator), Sarah Messerschmidt (researcher – ex Nomadic), Stina Fors (performance artist), Job Rietvelt (creative producer), Rosario Talevi (architect and curator), Filippo Andreatta (artist and curator), Michael Moling / Stefano Riba, SMACH (San Martino Constellation of Art, Culture and History), Industria Indipendente / Martina Ruggeri, Erika Z. Galli (dramaturg), Giacomo Lorandi (gastronomic researcher and cook), Lilian Fraiji (curator and activist), Michael Scerbo (performance maker – ex Nomadic), Herwing Prinot (paleontologist, Museum Ladin).
The Nomadic School questions how space produces reality. Aiming to experiment possibilities of learning and sharing-knowledge around Performing Arts. The Nomadic School considers space and landscape as aesthetic territories that have political implications without using the words of politics. It problematizes the Performing Arts by interacting with other disciplines such as Natural Sciences, Architecture and Anthropology. Through workshops, experiments, walks, meetings and micro-performances, participants will be encouraged to reconsider their centrality and periphery within a shared space such as the stage.
