The cultural center Moving Station announces an open call for artists interested in becoming part of the program for the festival of new theater and performance NASTEVŘENO, taking place in Pilsen, Czech Republic from May 14 to May 18, 2025.
The aim of the event is to revitalize the surroundings of Moving Station and the public spaces of the Jižní Předměstí district through performative events and spatial installations. For 2025, we have selected a specific area defined by the streets Koperníkova, Hálkova, Korandova, and Husova. More detailed information about this location can be found here: https://mapy.cz/s/luhulatufu.
We are looking for creators in the fields of performative and visual arts, as well as those working in interdisciplinary areas, who engage with public space in their work. We are interested in projects that bring new impulses to the life of this locality.
We welcome site-specific projects that creatively respond to the character of Pilsen’s Jižní Předměstí—its history, present, and symbolism—and connect with local stories, themes, and atmosphere. We are also interested in events inspired by the following themes:
- “Škodovka” – The Engineering Industry: ships, cannons, nuclear power plants / Škoda Transportation (locomotives, trains, trams, trolleybuses) – exploring the world inside and outside the factory walls.
- The Forgotten Factory Canteen and Park – investigating dysfunctional public spaces and activities related to food and leisure.
- Cultural Microcosms – Vietnamese Convenience Stores: symbols of cultural fusion and their impact on the community.
- Dysfunctional Bus Station and Underpasses – spaces abandoned due to the loss of their original purpose, exploring these deserted places and seeking new meanings.
- Social Themes: housing, everyday life, and the stories of homes, courtyards, and garages.
- Second-Hand: slow and fast fashion, recycling, upcycling, materiality, and the dialogue between aesthetics and the ethics of consumption.
Proposed projects can work with any form of cross-genre art and may be in various stages of development.
