OFFICINA STAMPERIA DEL NOTAIO – AN INTERNATIONAL MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM IN TUSA, SICILY IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SUMMER 2024.
We accept individual artists, artists working in collaboration, and try to accommodate partners, children whenever possible. The residency is self-funded and includes lodging in a private bedroom in a single or shared apartment with kitchen and bathroom, plus 24-hour access to designated studio space in a communal, multi-use workspace. When possible, we try to arrange an open studio event for artists to informally exhibit work or give a public presentation, workshop, reading, or film screening. We also will plan occasional group excursions and dinners. The work of each resident artist will also be featured on the website and our Instagram page.
About OSN:
We are located in the heart of the medieval hill town of Tusa on the northern coast of Sicily. Close to the beach, the town itself is situated at 600 meters elevation and we are easily accessible from Palermo by train.
The residency fee per artist ranges on average from 450-550 euro per week. This fee includes lodging and 24/7 studio access, and fluctuates based on the type of accommodation and whether or not an artist is accompanied by a guest. The houses include fully-equipped kitchens and access to laundry facilities. Houses and studios are NOT equipped with wifi, computers, or air-conditioning, but fans are provided. Transportation, primary materials, and meals are the responsibility of the artist.
Accepted artists will receive a detailed fee breakdown and payment schedule at the time of notification of acceptance. A 50% non-refundable deposit to confirm attendance and secure a spot will be due shortly after acceptance, with the remaining 50% due no later than April 1st.
OSN is ideal for artists who want to focus on their work while being close to nature in a close-knit community.
We’re rustic and the residency is self-directed, although at times we organize open studio events, artist talks & presentations, screenings, readings, or gallery, museum & studio visits.
OSN accepts artists spanning all disciplines including writing, film/video, printmaking, analog/alt photo, and music composition and performance. Languages spoken: Italian, English, French.
