R.A.R.O. residency

R.A.R.O.  is an international program of residencies for artists that starts from the need to generate links and exchanges.

In the residencies we carry out, we contemplate artistic production and reflection in relation to synergies and multidisciplinary collaborations.  Our proposal is a delocalized and self-managed program that works through a containment network made up of 20 workshops of local artists willing to receive others in their spaces.  Our dynamics are mainly itinerant and linking.

Since 2014 we opened our doors in Buenos Aires, a city in which we have received more than 60th residents and where we had generated different scholarship programs for both Argentine and foreign artists, thus developing agreements with various institutions and contributing to the strengthening of production and music. exchange between disciplines.

The key element of the residencies we propose is the possibility of working with different artists, curators, managers and researchers in an itinerant way during a certain time, this is key for the generation of spaces for dialogue and collaborations between those who participate and those who host them.

In parallel to the work processes in each space, we generate an agenda of activities such as visits to workshops, talks, clinics, among others, that are complementary and that nurture the experience of each resident, allowing them to interact with different spaces and actors according to the nature of their own projects.

How does it work?

The key element to R.A.R.O.’s Itinerant Residencies is the opportunity to create, collaborate and travel through various artist spaces during the residence period.

The multidisciplinary nature of R.A.R.O. allows for the resident to work in two or more ateliers and deepen into one or several disciplines in a short period of time. R.A.R.O.’s network of local ateliers allows interested residents to choose from them in order to develop a part of their production, as well undertaking collaborative works. Choosing the studio will depend on the techniques each resident wants to develop and/or deepen into and on the times established by each atelier.

The resident can work in a minimum of 2 ateliers for at least 3 weeks and deepen into one or several techniques. During your stay, you can feature their work, have contact with local artists, curators, collectors, etc., and finally you will be given the opportunity of generating an audiovisual record of the whole process, and show the final work in the form of either an open studio or an exhibition.

Who is R.A.R.O. intended for?

R.A.R.O.’s Residencies are aimed at artists, curators, cultural managers, both emerging and established, national or international coming from all disciplines who are interested in itinerant residences and who want to share ateliers with local artists for art-work production.

R.A.R.O.’s  schedule

The duration of each residence vary according to the schedules established by the interested artists and by the R.A.R.O. ateliers. Stays are at least 3 weeks long and have no maximum time.

Costs, grants and opportunities.

The cost of each residence varies according to the chosen amount of time and ateliers. Interested artists can apply to some of the grants offered by R.A.R.O. or apply for different grants, in which case the R.A.R.O. team will provide letters of invitation and all the necessary documentation to access them.
