Shifting Places is an initiative assisting artists affected by war to continue their work in Switzerland. The Kaserne Basel is one of the most important major centers of the independent contemporary theater, dance, performance and popular music scene in Switzerland. It is an important partner for the local, national and international theater and dance scene and, as a co-producer, continuously promotes the development of independent theater and dance companies as well as young talents from Basel, Switzerland and internationally. To this end, Kaserne Basel offers various residency formats for national and international artists in order to create a creative space for experimentation, exchange and networking.

In addition to the use of the two rehearsal stages and a flexible workspace, Kaserne Basel offers a newly renovated studio with its own bathroom in the main building (kHaus). The kitchen is shared with employees of the house and local artists. A person employed specifically to look after the artists offers general support, accompanies the processes and serves as an additional networker for local contacts. And with the new local residency program Kaserne LAB, foreign artists are directly embedded in the Basel scene: five local artists research and work together at the house for a season and use the rehearsal stages together with the resident artists. We are looking for interested artists who are willing to spend 2 months in Basel to deepen their artistic work, who would also like to bring a research project with them, and who want to build new networks with an open personality and curiosity.

Your profile:

● You have a convincing track record in the arts.

● You are willing to engage with Swiss culture and are interested in networking locally with other cultural professionals

● You work independently on your project.
