Exploring community building and relational practice through drawing and food culture

SOPRA SOTTO x MIKIDOU LIFE DRAWING invite a group of interdisciplinary artists for a communal experience to inspire creative exploration and a deepening of the residents’ individual practice through the process of experimental drawing practices and connecting to the Tuscan nature and food culture.

This residency aims to facilitate a holistic knowledge-sharing experience based on relational principles, both to each other as well as to our subject matter, in order to foster community, cross-pollination and collaboration. These relational principles are inspired by Bell Hooks emphasis on learning through knowing each other, and are deeply spiritual in nature. This approach has transformative potential through self-enquiry as well as consistent collective feedback moments.
SOPRA SOTTO

focuses on interdisciplinary culture shapers, bringing together artists, thinkers, and visionaries from diverse backgrounds. For several weeks, creatives live communally and learn, create, and work together, using art and creativity as tools to research, examine and learn. The residency creates a container to question certain paradigms that no longer serve us, within ourselves and in society as a whole. To positively transmute outdated concepts into alternative futures, for the community as well as the collective.

5 interdisciplinary creatives as residents (7 people including organizers)
Costs: the residency costs are €450 per person (this includes stay, food, excursions, program, pick-up from Pontassieve). This does not include travel costs to Pontassieve.

CONTENT

Theme: Arte, Terra, Comunità in Toscana: Exploring community building and relational practice through drawing and food culture

- Co-created workshops by residents for residents
- Excursions to art spaces, studios, farms
- Personal time for experimentation and creation

- Food & creative activities for local community
- Weekend of 5-6 October
