The Anti-Misogyny Club Open Call

To celebrate the launch of The Anti-Misogyny Club gallery, we are running a competition and we want your feminism-themed art and writing!

With a top prize of £100, and two runner up prizes of £25 each, our launch competition celebrates poetry, fiction, nonfiction, spoken word, music, video, and visual art with a feminist theme.

We welcome entries in any of these categories, and we interpret the theme loosely; it might be an illustration highlighting street harassment, an essay on the intersection of misogyny and fatphobia, a song about reproductive rights, or any other creative work which explores feminist resistance to misogyny.

All entries to the competition will be displayed in The Anti-Misogyny Club gallery.

You don’t have to be a woman to enter the competition: whatever your pronouns, if your work is feminist, it’s welcome here.

Terms and Conditions

Eligibility:
- The competition is open to people aged 18 and above
- Employees of The Anti-Misogyny Club and their immediate families are not eligible to enter
Submission Guidelines:
- Entries must be original work of the participant and must not have been created, in whole or in part, with the use of AI
- Each participant may submit only one entry
- Entries must be submitted via the Competition Entry Form no later than 30th June 2024
- Late entries will not be considered
Content Guidelines:
- Entries must have a feminist theme
- Entires which, in The Anti-Misogyny Club’s view, are homophobic, transphobic, ableist, racist, or otherwise hateful will not be accepted
- Entries must be the entrant’s own work; plagiarised entires will not be accepted
Judging Criteria:
- Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality, adherence to the theme, and overall quality
- The decision of the judges is final and binding
Prizes:
- First Prize: £100 (GBP)
- Two Runner-Up Prizes: £25 (GBP) each
- Five Honourable Mentions
Winner Announcement:
- Winners will be notified via email within 15 days after the closing date
- Winners must respond within 10 days of notification to claim their prize; failure to do so may result in disqualification, and an alternate winner may be selected
Publication Rights:
- By submitting an entry, participants grant The Anti-Misogyny Club the right to publish, reproduce, distribute, and display their entry online and in print and to use it for promotional purposes (e.g. share it on our social media)
- By submitting an entry, participants agree to their entry being displayed in The Anti-Misogyny Club gallery
- Copyright for entries remains with the participant
Privacy:
- Personal information collected from participants will be used solely for the purpose of administering the competition and will not be shared with third parties without consent
Limitation of Liability:
- The Anti-Misogyny Club and its affiliates, partners, and sponsors shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or expense arising out of or in connection with the competition, including but not limited to any technical malfunction, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, or unauthorised access to, or alteration of entries
Modification or Termination:
- The Anti-Misogyny Club reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the competition at any time without prior notice, for any reason
Governing Law:
- These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Scotland, and any disputes arising out of or in connection with the competition shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland
Acceptance of Terms:
- Participation in the competition constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions
