THE LOT ARTIST RESIDENCY 2024

The Lot Artist Residency is an opportunity for artists to work in The Lot, an outdoor workshop space in Brooklyn, for two months beginning April 15, 2024. One artist will be selected to utilize the space, creating work that engages with the community and themes of sustainability. The artist-in-residence will have a dedicated workspace, a secure place to store materials, and 24/7 access to the space. Artists will be required to present one free public event over the course of the residency (they may work together or present events solo).

WHEN: APRIL 15TH – JUNE 15TH, 2024

WHERE: THE KOKO LOT AT 440 19TH STREET, BROOKLYN, NY 11215

Application Deadline: March 10th, 2024

We encourage artists to explore the opportunities that an outdoor space in Brooklyn provides. We are open to all ideas and the residency may include installations, workshops, artist talks, performances, and more. The Lot is currently home to KoKo NYC, Open Source Gallery’s art education program, and the children’s programs will be operating concurrently in The Lot throughout the residency. Artists-in-residence may engage with KoKo NYC programs, though it is not a requirement.

The Lot is also home to a garden created with the philosophy of reclaiming urban spaces, a Cricket Farm created by Party Crickets (artists Adam Chad Brody and Jude Tallichet), and Backyard Utopias, a project initiated by artists Katerina Marcelja and Monika Wuhrer that encourages our community to participate in zero waste and carbon negative efforts.
