The UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts Karlsruhe is opening its doors to artists and media professionals from all over the world for the first time! The 2024 Project Funding Program is starting with great anticipation and invites you to explore and expand the boundaries of media art together. This initiative is aimed at creatives who deal with current social and cultural issues and make use of the potential of media art. International exchange, co-operation and interdisciplinarity are the focus of this call for proposals.
The city of Karlsruhe is actively investing in the promotion of media art and is funding 100,000 euros for this purpose in the 2024 budget. These funds will be used to support projects that are designed for outdoor spaces and create a high level of visibility for the public. Funding can amount to up to 40,000 euros per project, and the selected projects will be presented in summer 2025 as part of the Media art is here exhibition.
We are particularly excited that international applicants are also being accepted for the first time! Artists, cultural and media professionals from all over the world are invited to apply. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a global network of media artists and to celebrate the diversity of cultural expression.
The application deadline is September 20, 2024. An expert jury will select the eligible projects and applicants will be informed of the outcome at the end of October 2024.
