Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, VCCA is proud to offer a rotating selection of fully-funded fellowships at each of our three annual application deadlines (January 15, May 15, and September 15).
At each deadline, applicants will be considered for a VCCA residency and as many fully-funded fellowships for which they are eligible; only one application with a single application fee is required per deadline.
Financial Assistance: In addition to the fully-funded fellowships listed on this page, significant financial assistance is available throughout the year. All eligible applicants demonstrating financial need are considered for financial aid funding to help cover the cost of their residency.
Application Fee Waivers: If the application fee presents a hardship, applicants should reach out to Artists Services at vcca@vcca.com to request an application fee waiver at least 5 days before the application deadline.

Applications for VCCA’s residency program at Mt. San Angelo in Amherst, Virginia, are accepted three times a year for three distinct scheduling periods. Flexible scheduling is available for residencies of varying lengths within each period. Residencies are available throughout the year on the following cycle:
Winter period
Residencies Available: January – April 2025
Application Opens: February 1, 2024
Application Deadline: May 15, 2024
Notification: sent by August 31, 2024
Summer period
Residencies Available: May – August 2025
Application Opens: June 1, 2024
Application Deadline: September 15, 2024
Notification: sent by December 31, 2024
Fall period
Residencies Available: September – December 2025
Application Opens: October 1, 2024
Application Deadline: January 15, 2025
Notification: sent by April 30, 2025
