The Wassaic Project. A non-profit organization that brings artists and writers into the hamlet of Wassaic to live and work, nurturing connections between artists and neighbors.
Title & Description:
Applications are open for the 2027 Artist Residency (Summer Sessions).
The residency functions as a creative laboratory untied to outcome. Summer residents receive 24-hour access to an adaptable, semi-private studio in the historic Luther Barn. Monthly programming includes open studios, group studio visits with embedded critics, and one-on-one studio visits and artist talks with creative professionals.

Eligibility:
- Who: Individual artists, collaborative teams, groups of two or more individual artists, and artists applying through the Family Residency program.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Workspace: 24-hour access to a 200–300 sq. ft. semi-private studio. Access to a print shop and wood shop.
- Accommodation: A private bedroom in a shared house with common spaces, bathrooms, and a kitchen. (Family Residency participants receive a private house).
- Professional Development: Studio visits, open studios, and artist talks.
Application Fee & Program Costs:
- Application Fee: $25 (Waivers available for financial hardship).
- Residency Fee: The residency is offered on a sliding scale from $0–$900 per session. While financial assistance is available (the review process is strictly need-blind), those who are able to contribute are asked to pay $900 per session.

- Proposal (Max 200 words): Describe what makes you curious, what you are interested in investigating, and what your jumping-off point would be.
- Definition of Success: A statement defining your criteria for success and sharing any documentation of community impact or process.
