Light Work (in partnership with Autograph ABP and the Darryl Chappel Foundation). Founded in 1973 as an artist-run, non-profit organization, its mission is to provide direct support to emerging and under-represented artists working in photography and digital imaging.

Applications are open for the 2027 Light Work Artist-in-Residence Program.
Every year, Light Work invites 12 to 15 artists to Syracuse, New York, to devote one month exclusively to their creative projects. Over 400 artists have participated in this renowned program, which is designed to provide world-class facilities, comprehensive staff support, and community to help artists grow their practice.

Eligibility:
- Who: Open to all artists working in photography or image-based media.
- Nationality: Open to artists from any country.
- Focus: The program primarily aims to support emerging and under-represented artists.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Stipend: A generous $7,500 USD stipend.
- Accommodation: A furnished artist apartment for the one-month duration.
- Workspace: 24-hour access to state-of-the-art digital lab facilities with generous staff support.
- Publication & Essay: Work by each Artist-in-Residence is published in a special edition of Contact Sheet: The Light Work Annual, accompanied by a commissioned essay.
- Collection: Work by former Residents is acquired as part of the permanent Light Work Collection.

Application Requirements:
- Submission Portal: Applications are primarily submitted digitally via SlideRoom.
- Mail-In Option: If you choose to submit a physical application by mail, your physical materials will be permanently discarded unless proper return postage is included.
