The residency is hosted at the Dome House and created/led in partnership with the Miller Art Museum. The program serves the broader mission of the Dome House to provide artists with space for creativity, contemplation, and inspiration.
Title & Description:
Applications are open for the Al & Mickey Quinlan Artist Residency (Sixth Year).
This application-based, 8-week live/work program provides a dedicated studio and residence for focused creative development. Consideration is given to artists who demonstrate a desire to experiment, explore, and move their practice forward. The residency offers opportunities for meaningful public engagement and expanded professional visibility through the Museum’s exhibitions, communications, and community partnerships.

Eligibility:
- Who: Emerging and mid-career artists.
- Geographic Constraint: Applicants must be based in the Midwest.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Workspace & Accommodation: The selected artist is invited to live and work at the Dome House for the duration of the 8-week residency.
Work Exchange & Obligations:
- Public Engagement: This is a core component of the program. At a minimum, the artist is expected to:
- Develop an introductory public presentation.
- Establish regular open studio hours for the general public.
- Stage a concluding final art exhibition and/or artist talk/presentation.(Ideas for additional public events are also welcome).
Application Requirements:
Applicants must gather the following materials before completing the online form:
- CV / Artist Resume.
- Introduction / Artist Statement / Bio: Detailing your work, inspiration, materials, techniques, or past projects.
- Statement of Intent: Outlining your personal goals for the residency and how it will support your work.
- Artist Residency Project Plan: Detailing how you will experiment and actively connect with the Door County creative community.
- Professional References: Contact info for two professional references (letters of recommendation are not needed).
- Work Portfolio: A single .ZIP file including up to 10 digital images (max 1MB each, named lastname_1, lastname_2, etc.).
- Description Sheet: A document listing your name, image name, title, date executed, dimensions, and media for the portfolio works.
