The Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports and advances artistic expression, civic participation, and equitable cultural development in Southern Arizona. Acting as the designated local arts agency, the Foundation manages grant programs, professional development opportunities, and public art projects, collaborating with the City of Tucson, Pima County, Arizona Commission on the Arts, and other stakeholders. Amazon Flats: Interior Ceiling Sculpture invites professional artists and artist teams to design and fabricate a suspended interior sculpture for the new Amazon Flats affordable housing development in Tucson, Arizona. The project focuses on enhancing communal spaces by integrating art that reflects local culture, history, and neighborhood identity. The sculpture will be installed beneath a skylight in a common area, using light-responsive, durable materials to create a visually compelling centerpiece that interacts with natural light. Artists are expected to collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and the community throughout the design and fabrication process.Categories

Eligibility
- Open to professional artists and artist teams worldwide.
- Artists may apply individually or as part of a team.
- Team leads must submit the application; representatives, managers, or galleries may not apply on behalf of artists.
- Team members applying individually are not eligible.
Program Benefits & Awards
- All-inclusive maximum budget of $45,000 USD, covering artist fees, materials, insurance, engineering plans, permits, fabrication, lighting, installation, research, community engagement, and all related project costs.

- Six (6) work samples of completed projects (.jpg, .png, or other accepted formats). Include title, date, location, dimensions, materials, budget, and role in the project.

- Skylight dimensions: 7’ x 5’ x 5’, with a 6’ vertical drop; maximum weight 1,500 lbs.
- Recommended materials: glass, ceramic, metal, resin, acrylic, dichroic glass, reflective foils, or other light-interactive media.
- The selected artist must participate in at least two design and review meetings and may engage with the community during the design phase.
- All works must be durable, safe, and compatible with the indoor environment.
