Brief Description

The Art In The Pearl Fine Arts & Crafts Festival is an annual event held in Portland, Oregon, over Labor Day weekend (August 30 – September 1, 2025). The festival showcases 130 exceptional visual artists selected through a rigorous jury process. It includes an Emerging Artist Program aimed at regional artists in the early stages of their careers. Alongside exhibitions, the event features art education, demonstrations, and performance art.

Eligibility

  • Open to all artists internationally
  • BIPOC, LGBTQI2S+, and historically marginalized artists are encouraged to apply
  • Emerging Artist Program is available for artists from Oregon and Washington with limited exhibition experience

There is no specific theme. The festival focuses on fine arts and crafts across multiple disciplines.

How to Apply

  • Submit an application through Zapplication
  • Provide five digital images (four artworks + one booth setup)
  • Include an artist statement describing materials, process, and technique
  • Collaborating artists must apply together

Submission Requirements

  • Images of work must be high-quality and without visible signage or names
  • Artworks must be original and crafted by the artist
  • No mass-produced or commercially manufactured items are permitted

Selection Process

  • A jury of five art professionals evaluates applications anonymously
  • Selection is based on originality, design, technical skill, and craftsmanship
  • Top-scoring artists receive invitations; others are waitlisted
  • Emerging artists are evaluated through jury scores and committee review

Program Benefits & Awards

  • Selected artists receive booth space at the festival
  • Emerging artists get a reduced booth fee and mentorship support
  • Three “Best of Show” awards are given; winners are invited back the following year and promoted on festival platforms
