Title & Description:

The call for nominations is open for Artes Mundi 12 (AM12).

Centred on the ongoing examination of the "Human Condition," this biennial exhibition and prize present exceptional contemporary work in Wales. The organizers are looking for artists whose practice explores this theme in various ways—from examining power structures, globalization, and environmentalism to deeply personal issues of grief, loss, and the future. An independent jury will review all nominations to select the shortlist for the exhibition and the ultimate prize winner.

Eligibility:

  • Who Can Nominate: Anyone who is interested or involved in visual arts can make a nomination. You may nominate more than one artist.
  • Self-Nomination: You strictly CANNOT nominate yourself. Artists must ask peers or colleagues to make a nomination on their behalf.
  • Who Can Be Nominated: Artists from anywhere in the world, of any age. They should be well-known in the country in which they work and have (or are developing) an international reputation.
  • Experience Level: Artists should be considered emerging to mid-career with some experience exhibiting internationally. Current students are strictly NOT eligible.
  • Nomination Scope: Nominations are made for the consideration of the artist and their overall practice, NOT for a single specific piece of work.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • The Prize: The winning artist will receive an award of £40,000 GBP.
  • The Exhibition: All shortlisted artists will be invited to participate in the prestigious AM12 biennial exhibition in Wales.
