Description
The Equinox Program supports Indigenous artists, curators, collectives, and groups to engage in artistic creation, professional development, and capacity building. This program encourages both traditional and contemporary art forms, emphasizing professional growth and community engagement. It is designed to provide flexible, short-term support that reflects Indigenous cultural perspectives and strengthens the arts ecosystem in Indigenous communities.Eligibility
This program is open to Indigenous professional artists, curators, and collectives who are residents of New Brunswick.-
Professional Status: Applicants may be self-taught, traditionally taught, or formally trained.

Residency: Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident affiliated with a First Nation on Turtle Island and have resided in New Brunswick for at least one year (12 months) prior to the application deadline.

Exclusions: Full-time students, Indigenous Bands, or groups directly linked to a Band are not eligible.
Program Categories
There are three types of Equinox grants available:-
Research and Development: To conduct research and develop artistic practice by attending workshops, mentorships, and residencies.

Creation of New Work: To create new work, whether in traditional or contemporary art forms.

Connections: To bring artists together through conferences, workshops, gatherings, exchanges, and other activities that strengthen the Indigenous arts community.

Project Start: Projects must begin after the application deadline.
Funding (Grant Amounts)

Maximum Grant: Up to $10,000 per applicant per fiscal year.

Eligible Expenses:

Subsistence (living allowance) up to $2,000/month for the primary applicant.

Artist fees, materials, and equipment rental.

Travel (for distances over 150 km) and accommodation.
