Assistant Collection Manager: Storage and Moves (Large Objects)
This hands-on technical role involves supporting the preparation, movement, and storage of museum objects, with a focus on large 3D objects. The position ensures that objects are handled safely, documentation is maintained accurately, and collection projects are executed efficiently in line with museum standards.

Role Overview

  • Salary: £29,642 per annum
  • Contract Type: Fixed-term contract until 31 December 2027
  • Hours: Full-time, 41 hours per week, on-site at Bloomsbury
  • Reports To: Collection Manager: Storage and Moves
  • Curatorial Oversight: Works closely with curators, project managers, and collection care colleagues
  • Programme/Project: Major storage move projects across the Museum’s collection

Position & Tasks

  • Facilitate movement, packing, and rehousing of large 3D objects
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and transit of objects
  • Maintain and update essential object documentation, including location tracking and photography
  • Create condition reports and undertake condition photography
  • Assist with collection audits, training volunteers, and cross-departmental collaboration
  • Observe health and safety standards during all activities
  • Represent the Museum professionally in all tasks
