Organizer Information:

Baldwin For The Arts is a prestigious artist residency program founded by acclaimed author Jacqueline Woodson. The organization prioritizes fostering an intergenerational community of artists of the Global Majority. It was established to create a safe, nurturing, and dedicated space for historically underrepresented creators to dream, focus, and develop their work without the pressures of daily life.

Title & Description:

Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Baldwin Fellowship Program.

This residency is designed to fulfill the founder's vision of a sanctuary where artists can immerse themselves in their craft. As Woodson states: "After attending my first residency, I longed to create a safe and nurturing space for historically underrepresented artists. Baldwin For The Arts is that longing fulfilled. It is a place to write, to make music, to paint, sculpt, and draw. And most importantly, it is a place for artists of the Global Majority to dream."

The program uses the term “Global Majority” as a positive reframing to recognize that people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Indigenous, Hispanic/Latino/a/x, and dual-heritage backgrounds represent the global majority, rather than minorities.
