The BAU Institute Arts Residency Award is a funded artist residency providing mid-career visual artists, filmmakers, writers, and performers with free accommodation and workspace at the Camargo Foundation in a scenic Mediterranean village. The program offers uninterrupted creative time while fostering artistic exchange through film screenings, readings, and studio presentations.

Eligibility:
- Open to national and international mid-career artists (10+ years of independent work).
- Up to 15 Fellows will be selected.
- Full-time students are NOT eligible.
- Fellows must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Theme & Focus:
There is no strict thematic requirement. The residency is designed for artists working in:
- Visual Arts (painting, sculpture, installation, digital media, photography, etc.)
- Film
- Performance
- Writing

Submission Guidelines by Discipline:
Visual Arts: 7 JPEG images (72 dpi, max 1MB each)
Video: 3 excerpts (max 3 minutes each) with marked sections for review
Writing: Up to 10 pages (poems, short stories, essays, or script excerpts)
Collaboration: Each applicant must apply individually but can mention collaborations in their letter of intent.
Incomplete applications will NOT be processed.
Selection Process:
- Applications are reviewed by a rotating panel of discipline-specific professionals.
- Up to 15 Fellows will be chosen based on artistic merit and project proposals.

Travel Subsidies (2025)
Two $1,500 travel subsidies are available for mid-career artists needing financial support:
- Anne Chu Award: Open to all mid-career artists, honoring the multidisciplinary artist Anne Chu.
- BAU Institute Travel Award for Diversity: Open to mid-career artists of color.
If applying for a subsidy, you must state in your letter of intent that you cannot attend without it.
