Bora Bora Residency Centre, located in Aarhus, Denmark, offers international residencies for professional artists in the field of dance and choreography. The residencies are designed to support the development of artistic practices and projects, with the selected artists receiving fees, paid travel, and accommodation.

 

Information & Application Details: • Application Deadline: 31st January 2025, 13:00 CET. • Announcement of Selected Artists: 27th March 2025. • Online Meetings with Selected Artists: 28th and 31st March 2025 (between 9:00 and 15:00 CET). • Agreement and Contract Finalization: 4th to 9th April 2025. • Feedback for Non-Selected Applicants: By mid-April 2025.

 

Eligibility: • Open to professional artists or collectives working in dance and choreography. • The applicant must have signed at least two professional productions. • Solo works may be considered if they are rooted in a collaborative process. • At least two of the five selected projects must be initiated by Danish artists or artists based in Denmark. • Application language: English.

 

Theme: The residency program supports a range of purposes: • Research: Early exploration of artistic ideas or projects. • Development: Advancing an already developed idea. • Exploration: Experimenting with new directions in artistic work. • Post-production: Reflecting and preparing a work for further development or touring.

 

How to Apply: • Submit a project description or artistic pitch. • Include a CV highlighting previous artistic experience. • Provide video documentation of a past performance and materials related to the current project. • List preferred residency dates (at least two weeks each between August 2025 and June 2026). • Use a Google login to fill out the online application form.

Selection Process: • The initial shortlist is made by Bora Bora producers and curated by the artistic advisory board. • Artists will be informed by 27th March 2025. • Online meetings with selected artists will be held from 28th to 31st March 2025. • Final agreements and contracts between 4th and 9th April 2025. • Feedback to non-selected applicants will be sent by mid-April 2025.

 

Program Benefits: • 2-3 weeks paid residency with an artist fee of 1.090 € per week (for up to five participants). • Paid production fee for one person during the residency period. • Travel and accommodation are covered. • Collaboration with host institutions across Denmark within a 2-hour drive from Aarhus.
