Organizer Information
The Boso Triennale is a large-scale contemporary art festival organized by the Boso Triennale Executive Committee, with participation from Chiba Prefecture Government, Ichihara City Government, Kisarazu City Government, and Otaki Town Government in Japan.
The Triennale continues the cultural development of the Boso region through international contemporary art initiatives. The project builds upon earlier regional art festivals such as Ichihara Art × Mix, which explored community engagement through site-specific artworks and cultural collaborations.
Located in the Boso Peninsula of Chiba Prefecture, the region features rich natural landscapes, historic towns, agricultural communities, and coastal environments. The Triennale uses these unique cultural and environmental characteristics as a framework for artistic production, inviting artists to create works that interact with the local context and promote international cultural exchange.
Through exhibitions, installations, performances, and collaborative projects, the festival seeks to increase international awareness of the Boso region while encouraging dialogue between artists, residents, and visitors.
