Bronx River Art Center (BRAC), a 37-year-old community-based multi-arts organization in the heart of The Bronx, is hiring for two key positions: Executive Director and Manager of Art Education. BRAC serves the vibrant and underserved community through art education, exhibitions, artist studio programs, and multidisciplinary performances. Its programming integrates environmental studies and urban design to promote awareness of environmental justice and local community development.

Executive Director

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee operations, financial management, fundraising, and community engagement.
  • Lead program development, staff, and facility management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partners, and the board.
  • Guide organizational strategy in alignment with BRAC’s mission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, and community-based arts.
  • Proven leadership and success in multicultural environments.

Compensation:

  • Salary: $80,000 – $85,000
  • Benefits: 3 weeks vacation, 8 holidays, health benefits, and other perks.

 

Manager of Art Education

Responsibilities:

  • Manage youth and adult education programs, including career development for teens.
  • Supervise artists, teaching assistants, and volunteers.
  • Develop interdisciplinary curriculum and foster community partnerships.
  • Oversee student exhibitions and assist in grant writing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in visual arts or arts administration.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in arts-based education.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with arts-based nonprofit management and community development.

Compensation:

  • Salary: $60,000 – $65,000
  • Benefits: 3 weeks vacation, 8 holidays, health benefits, and other perks.

 

Internship Opportunities:

  • Roles: Assist in various projects such as exhibition installations, teaching preparation, and administrative tasks.
  • Requirements: College students in Fine Arts, Visual Media Arts, Arts Management, or Art Education.
