Applications will soon open for the 2027–2028 Camargo Fellowship.
The Camargo Fellowship offers research-based residencies to applicants from various fields and disciplines. It provides a 10-week residency where individuals or teams have the space, time, and freedom to think, create, and connect. The fellowship aims to initiate exchanges within the group and develop a collective spirit through mandatory "Resident sessions." For this upcoming edition, 14 applicants (7 artists and 7 scholars & thinkers) will be selected.

Eligibility:
- Scholars: Must focus on French and Francophone cultures, or cross-cultural studies engaging the Mediterranean region. Must hold a PhD/post-doctoral record or be a PhD candidate in the final stages of writing their dissertation.
- Thinkers: Accomplished professionals (curators, journalists, critics, urban planners, independent scholars) engaged in critical thought, contributing to equitable transitions.
- Artists: Must have a professional practice for at least the past 5 years and be the primary creators of new work. Subcategories include Visual Artists, Choreographers, Theater Directors, Performance Artists, Writers, Film/Video/Digital Artists, Composers, Sound Artists, and Multidisciplinary Artists. (Note: This is a research-based residency, not focused on production).
- Collaborative Teams: Teams of up to three individuals are welcome to apply.
- Language Requirement: Candidates must be able to communicate well in English.
- Mandatory Presence: Fellows must be physically in residence during the entire 10-week period. Frequent or prolonged absences are not allowed.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Financial Support: A stipend of EUR 350 per week (EUR 3,500 for the entire duration of the residency).
- Travel: Funding for basic transportation (coach class) to and from Cassis per Fellow.
- Accommodation & Workspace: A furnished apartment with a fully equipped kitchen. Facilities include a reference library, a music/conference room, an open-air theater, one artist’s studio with a darkroom, and one composer’s studio with a piano. (Note: No dance studio, art supplies, or technical equipment provided).

- Rationale for wanting to work at Camargo / Aix-Marseille area (max 300 words).
- Rationale for why a residency is appropriate at this career stage (max 300 words).

- Work samples (Visual artists: PDF portfolio; Writers: up to 20 pages; Filmmakers/Composers: up to 20 minutes/3 links). Provide finished work if submitting a work-in-progress.
- Names and contact information for two references.
