Short Description
Platform is a satellite, artist-run space that supports career development and provides opportunities for artists based in Kamberri/Canberra and beyond, with a particular focus on emerging practitioners. Platform is a space that encourages experimentation, offering the freedom to test ideas with the guidance of mentorship and marketing support from the Canberra Contemporary team.
Eligibility
We welcome proposals from:
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists, collectives, and curators;
- Practitioners working in any contemporary visual arts discipline;
- Artists at any stage of their career who identify as early-career, emerging, or who are taking
creative risks or developing new work.
Platform prioritises Kamberri/Canberra-based artists, but interstate or international artists with a connections to the region are also encouraged to apply.

Program Benefits & Awards
Canberra Contemporary will provide the selected First Peoples Program exhibitor with:
- $2,000 total financial support, including:
o $1,000 artistic project fee
o $1,000 contribution toward travel, freight, and accommodation - Casual staff invigilation for the duration of the exhibition (valued at $2,440)
- Staffed bar service for the opening event
- Curatorial guidance and project mentorship
- Marketing and promotion, including:
o Design of digital invites and posters
o Social media and e-news promotion
o Media/industry contact outreach - Professional installation photography
- Exhibition agreement with deadlines and deliverables checklist
- Room sheet template for artworks
- Access to installation materials, including wall paint and basic tools (on request)
- Use of professional gallery lighting
- Letters of support for grant applications or professional opportunities
