carlier | gebauer is an established and international gallery in the art district / U-Bahn Kochstrasse in Berlin with a dependance in Madrid.

The gallery has proven to be a key platform for the artists’ development by producing crucial exhibitions for their careers. A great number of the artists of the gallery have participated in major biennials and international exhibitions as well as having significant solo exhibitions in major international museums.

To strengthen our team in Berlin, we are seeking a highly organized and motivated Gallery Manager (full time) to oversee the daily operations of our gallery and ensure the smooth running of all activities. This central role will require you to collaborate closely with every department within the gallery, ensuring exhibitions, events, and internal processes are executed seamlessly. As a key team member, you will foster a welcoming and professional environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, and connection.

The role includes, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:

• Gallery Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the gallery, including opening and closing procedures, managing staff schedules, and ensuring the space is always well-maintained and professionally presented.
• Exhibition Management: Support the planning, coordination, and installation of exhibitions by collaborating with the Logistics & Operations department, external vendors, and installation teams to ensure timely project completion and alignment with gallery goals.
• Event Coordination: Plan and execute gallery events, such as exhibition openings, dinners, artist talks, and book launches. Manage guest lists, logistics, and timelines to ensure smooth event execution.
• Visitor Support: Assist the Sales & Exhibitions department in providing a welcoming experience for all gallery visitors. Happy to step in and guide guests through the gallery’s exhibitions and presentations, ensuring an informative and engaging visit to all gallery spaces.
• Team Support & Problem Solving: Serve as the primary point of contact across departments, providing troubleshooting and IT support while acting as the main liaison with gallery IT administrators to resolve technical issues swiftly and ensure seamless communication, keeping projects on track.
• Technology & Systems Management: Use digital tools and project management software to organize tasks, track inventory, manage schedules, and streamline communication across teams.
• Administrative Oversight: Handle office tasks such as scheduling meetings, updating the gallery calendar, and coordinating with external partners. Manage other administrative responsibilities to keep the gallery running efficiently.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

• Experience: At least 2 years in a similar role within a gallery, museum, or cultural institution. Experience with exhibition management, event coordination, or office management is a plus.
• Skills:
– Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
– Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact with both internal and external collaborators.
– Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
– Proficiency in OS Mac environment, Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite and database; familiarity with project management and collaborative tools is key.
– Fluency in German & English.
