Carbondale Clay Center (CCC). The Residency Program is generously sponsored by Sandra ‘Zoe’ Eskin and the Vera & Joseph Dresner Foundation. (Note: Due to a current fundraising campaign to rebuild their center, CCC is offering modified short-term residency options of 1-3 months for 2026/2027).

Applications are open for the CCC Ceramic Artist Residency Program.
This program is designed to encourage the creative, intellectual, and personal growth of emerging and established ceramic artists. It is an ideal opportunity for an artist looking for a place to pursue a focused, short-term body of work while gaining teaching experience and valuable technical skills in a community studio setting.

Eligibility:
- Who: Emerging and established ceramic artists. Previous experience working in a ceramic studio is strongly preferred.
- Time Commitment: Residents MUST commit to 20 hours per week of active studio time in pursuit of their goals.
- Housing: Housing is NOT included. Artists are responsible for securing and paying for their own housing and transportation. (Warning: The Roaring Fork Valley is a very expensive area with a high cost of living).
- Mandatory Contributions: Residents must donate a quality piece to the CCC permanent collection upon departure, and must give a Public Artist Talk/Visual Presentation to the community upon arrival.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Workspace: 24-hour access to a shared studio space (approx. 200 sq. ft., shared between two residents) and access to the main communal studio equipment and kilns.
- Material Allowance: Access to the stocked glaze lab up to a $75/month cost limit.
- Income Opportunities: Teaching opportunities with competitive pay, plus a 70% commission on any artwork sales made through the CCC Retail Gallery.
Application Fee & Program Costs:
- Residency Fee: The selected artist must pay $500 per month to rent the studio space (which includes basic materials and basic firings). Excessive use of materials or firings will be billed additionally at cost.
Application Requirements:
- Letter of Intent (1 page): Describe your specific goals, how you will use the time/space, and what body of work you intend to create. (This is not an artist statement).
- Resume/CV: Must include all ceramic-related experience.
- Artist Statement: Maximum 250 words.
- Images: 10-20 images of recent work (300 dpi, approx. 1-2 MB each).
- References: A list of 3 references with their name, relationship to you, phone number, and email. (Do NOT send reference letters at this time).
