Aviário Studio is an artist-run multidisciplinary creative hub located in the countryside of Ferreira do Zêzere, Portugal. Housed in a renovated aviary immersed in nature, the studio offers a collaborative environment focused on experimentation, research, and production across various visual arts disciplines.

Applications are open for the Aviário Studio Ceramics Residency – Summer/Fall 2026.

This program aims to promote exploration and production specifically in the field of Ceramics. It provides artists with the technical conditions, time, and space to test possibilities and materialize ideas, whether for experimentation or the consolidation of a new body of work.

The program is customized according to the artist's goals regarding duration (2 weeks to 6 months) and focus. Residents have access to specialized equipment, including electric kilns (up to 1260ºC) and pottery wheels, alongside the studio's broader multidisciplinary facilities.

Eligibility:

  • Age: Artists must be over 21 years old.

  • Nationality: Open to artists of all nationalities.

  • Financial: Applicants must be able to cover the residency fee, travel, materials, and meals.

  • Status: Open to emerging, mid-career, and established artists.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Accommodation: Private bedroom in a shared house located in the town center (approx. 2km from the studio).

  • Studio Access: Access to the studio and workshops (Mon–Fri, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM).

  • Support: Technical assistance (1 hour/day included) and weekly project discussions.

  • Community: Collaborative environment with other international residents.

  • Transport: Daily bicycle use or rides between the house and studio.

  • 1 Month (4 Weeks): €1,200

    (Fee includes accommodation, studio access, and basic technical support. Materials and meals are NOT included).
