Bushwick Community Darkroom organizes this call, highlighting analog images shaped by light, emulsion, and physical process. The exhibition treats chemistry not as nostalgia, but as proof, emphasizing material integrity and archival consideration.

Title & Description:

Chemical Evidence is an open call for film photography.

Selected works will be exhibited and offered for sale at three major venues:

  1. Superfine! Art Fair San Francisco (March 19–22, 2026).

  2. The Gallery at the Bushwick Community Darkroom (March 25 – April 21, 2026).

  3. SuperFair! NYC (April 24–26, 2026).

    The exhibition seeks works where chance, imperfection, and intervention are part of the record.

Category:

Film Photography.

(Work must be shot on film: 35mm, 120, or large format. Prints must be darkroom or hybrid).

Eligibility:

  • Medium: Open to all subject matter and styles, provided they originate on film.

  • Submission: Artists may submit 1–3 works for consideration.

  • Selection: One image per artist will be selected for exhibition.

  • Availability: Selected works must be delivered framed or frame-ready and available for exhibition and sale.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Exhibition: Inclusion in art fairs in San Francisco and New York City.

  • Sales: All works will be offered for sale. Sales are split 60% to the artist / 40% to the organizer.

  • Pricing: Works should be priced between $300–$2,500.

  • Documentation: A Certificate of Authenticity provided by Bushwick Community Darkroom will accompany sold works.

Application Fee:

  • Members: Free.

  • Non-Members: $15 (for up to 3 works).

Exhibition Fee (If Selected):

Selected artists pay a fee covering booth rental, transport, installation, and marketing.

  • $225: Ready-to-hang work (already framed).

  • $280: Work requiring framing ONLY.

  • $325: Work requiring printing and framing.

  • Note: Members receive 20% off exhibition fees.

Application Requirements:

Artists must provide print size, process details, and year for wall labels. Works must demonstrate archival consideration.
