Organizer Information:

CICA Museum (Czong Institute for Contemporary Art). Founded in 1994 by sculptor Czong Ho Kim, CICA is a unique cultural space cultivated by artists. The museum fosters projects by experimental artists and aims to provide a creative, comfortable space for the community to engage with visual culture.

Title & Description:

Applications are open for the CICA Art Residency/Internship Program 2026–2027.

The museum invites artists worldwide to participate in either a 6-month or 12-month term. Artists will have access to a shared studio space, present a one-week solo exhibition during their term, and participate in the daily life of the museum. Participating artists will also be featured in the e-book CICA Art Now 2027 (with a print edition available upon request). Universities and institutions are also welcome to submit proposals for collaboration.

Eligibility:

  • Who: Artists worldwide.
  • Visa Requirement: Artists are strictly responsible for obtaining a valid Korean visa that allows employment (such as a Working Holiday Visa [H-1], Student Visa [D-2], or other eligible visa types). Full-time employment may be possible for artists who hold an eligible visa.
  • Work Requirement: Participants are expected to work 14 hours per week, primarily assisting with children’s programs and museum events.
  • Background Check: Once admitted, artists will undergo a background check and hiring process.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Monthly Grant: 800,000 KRW (Korean Won), including tax, provided throughout the internship term.
  • Accommodation: If needed, a studio apartment with a private bathroom can be provided during the residency period.
  • Workspace: Access to a shared studio space equipped with basic tools (hammers, levels, tape measures, electric drills, screws, and a ladder).
  • Exhibition: Each artist will present a one-week solo exhibition in the gallery space (approx. 44 square meters).
