Short Description
The CircusDanceFestival seeks short film submissions with a maximum duration of 20 minutes. In collaboration with the Cologne Moovy Filmfestival, Workspace Dynamo, Short Waves Festival, OFF Odense International Film Festival, and Circus City UK, selected films will be featured within the Circus & Film program at the CircusDanceFestival 2026.
Each year during the Pentecost period, the festival celebrates the diversity of expression within contemporary circus, dance, and performance in Cologne. The event offers a creative and optimistic perspective on contemporary challenges—through poetic, thought-provoking, political, and spectacular works.
Eligibility
The call is open to graduates of circus or dance schools, self-taught artists, emerging creators, late-career transitions, and cross-disciplinary practitioners. Submissions may encompass humorous, intellectual, contemplative, queer, poetic, or critically engaged works—the festival welcomes diverse artistic approaches.
While applications from across Europe are prioritized to maintain sustainable travel distances, the program is not open to individuals currently enrolled in formal training programs. The festival particularly encourages submissions from women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, BIPOC communities, and persons with disabilities, refugee backgrounds, or migration experiences.
