Organizer Information

Concéntrico is an international festival of art, architecture, and design in public space, held annually in Logroño, La Rioja, Spain, since 2015. Organized in collaboration with entities such as the Fundación Caja Rioja, it transforms urban environments through temporary interventions, installations, and experimental projects that explore social, environmental, and symbolic dimensions of the city. The festival promotes innovative formats for urban transformation, as detailed in the publication *Concéntrico: Laboratorio de Innovación Urbana* (Park Books, 2025). It invites global creators to propose interventions that activate public spaces, foster dialogue between citizens and the urban landscape, and address contemporary issues like climate adaptation and collective identity. The 2026 edition (the twelfth) will take place from June 18 to 23, 2026, featuring selected projects realized with festival support for production and construction.

Title & Description

Concéntrico 2026 Open Calls: From the Book to Action This series of three international open calls invites proposals for temporary interventions in public spaces during the 2026 festival. Drawing from the festival's book on urban innovation, the calls explore:
  • Ephemeral Agents (with DISTIGMO, Zürich): Ephemeral interventions as catalysts for lasting urban change, with sub-categories for existing projects (exhibition/publication in Zürich) and speculative proposals (materialized in Logroño).
  • Urban Ecologies: Adaptive, reversible structures responding to climate challenges, improving thermal comfort and social interaction (continuing the Urban Climate Islands project).
  • Identity and Fiction – Narratives of Public Space: Reinterpreting symbolic and narrative aspects of public space through new urban fictions, focused on Paseo del Espolón. Artists/architects create site-specific, temporary works (installations, prototypes, pavilions) that engage with Logroño's urban fabric, emphasizing temporality, ecology, and narrative.

Additional Details

All selected interventions are temporary and reversible, emphasizing sustainability and urban activation. The festival provides logistical support for construction and dismantling. Proposals should consider the specific sites and themes of each call. This is an excellent opportunity for **Public Art** and **Site-specific** projects with real-world impact and international exposure. The calls are part of a broader program of urban experimentation, and selected works become permanent additions to the festival's legacy of over 100 interventions since 2015. Artists are encouraged to review the full bases for precise technical and conceptual guidelines.
