Brief Description

Nýlistasafnið (Reykjavík, Iceland) and Artistes en Résidence (Clermont-Ferrand, France) are offering a joint artist residency for two artists—one living and working in Iceland and one in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. This call is open only to artists residing in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The selected artist will spend six weeks in Reykjavík, Iceland, engaging in research and experimentation with support from Nýlo (The Living Art Museum) and SÍM (The Icelandic Visual Artists Association).

  • Location: Reykjavík, Iceland
  • Eligibility: Open to artists of any nationality residing in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France.

 

Theme

This is a research-based residency with no obligation for a final production. The focus is on experimentation, networking, and immersion in the Icelandic art scene.

    • Artistic approach
    • CV
    • Selection of relevant works
    • Two-page note of intent detailing the artist’s research focus and expectations from the residency.
  • Portfolios can be in French, Icelandic, or English. The note of intent must be in English.

Submission Requirements

  • There is no application fee.
  • The residency does not require a specific project but focuses on artistic research and development.

 

Selection Process

  • Artists will be selected based on their artistic approach, research needs, and interest in the program.
  • Results will be announced by end of April 2025.
