Curatorial Officer (Exhibitions) – Newcastle Art Gallery
This permanent, full-time role supports the delivery of Newcastle Art Gallery’s ambitious exhibition program, including temporary exhibitions, offsite projects, and the management of permanent collections. The position combines Curatorial insight with program administration, supporting artists and curators to realize innovative, high-quality exhibitions, while ensuring industry best practices in exhibition delivery.
Role Overview
- Salary: AUD $85,470.45 + 17.5% annual leave loading + 12% Superannuation
- Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (35 hours per week)
- Reporting To: Exhibitions Lead
- Curatorial Oversight: Works closely with Curators, Artists, and the Curatorial & Exhibitions Team
- Programme/Project: Temporary exhibitions, offsite projects, permanent collection display
Position & Tasks
- Support planning and delivery of temporary exhibitions, new commissions, and off-site projects
- Assist artists and curators in realizing their work
- Coordinate exhibition logistics and program administration
- Contribute to interpretive material, public talks, and digital content in collaboration with Audience and Curatorial teams
- Maintain compliance with industry best practices in exhibition delivery
- Collaborate across departments to ensure high-quality visitor experiences

Eligibility

- Experience in museum/gallery curatorial work or exhibition management
