Depoo is an independent contemporary art space located in the center of Sofia (12 Vratcha St.). The organization focuses on experimental, site-specific, and process-oriented practices. Operating as a curatorial platform, Depoo realizes exhibitions, installations, performances, and discursive events, engaging with the local context through independent initiatives.

Title & Description:

Depoo is accepting Exhibitions & Project Proposals for its 2026 program.

The space is seeking projects that work on a small scale (20 sq.m.) and can be realized with minimal technical means. The call encourages artists to experiment with format, welcoming proposals for installations, performance, sound, video, and hybrid practices.

Preference is given to projects that are site-specific or respond directly to the context of the space.

Selected projects will be chosen based on conceptual clarity, relevance to the profile of the space, and feasibility.

Eligibility:

  • Who: Open to individual artists, collectives, and curatorial projects.

  • Approach: Must be suitable for a small space and minimal technical setup.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Exhibition: Use of the space for a period of 2–3 weeks.

  • Support: Communication and promotion of the project.

  • Event: Organization of an opening or public event.

  • Documentation: Photographic documentation of the exhibition/project.

  • Context: Inclusion in the institutional framework and archive of the space.

Participation Contribution:

Depoo operates without regular institutional funding. To ensure sustainable operation, selected projects must contribute a space fee of 200–250 EUR.

  • Covers: Maintenance of the space, communication, and organizational costs.

  • Does NOT Cover: Production budgets, artist fees, or transport.

Application Requirements:

Applications must be submitted as a single PDF (max. 15 MB) containing:

  • Short project description (max. 1 page).

  • Visual material, sketches, or references.

  • Short CV or bio.

  • Preferred period for realization.
