Deputy Director (Operations & Executive Function)
NN Contemporary Art is seeking a strategic and values-driven Deputy Director to join its senior leadership team during a pivotal moment of expansion. As the organization prepares to move into its new home at 24 Guildhall Road, this role will be instrumental in ensuring the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of its operations. The Deputy Director will work in close collaboration with the CEO/Artistic Director to manage the executive functions of the charity, shaping a leadership culture that remains rooted in community, accessibility, and artistic excellence. This is not just a management role; it is an invitation to help define the future of a major regional arts institution.

The Role Overview

  • Salary: £42,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience).
  • Contract Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
  • Reporting To: CEO/Artistic Director.
  • Progression: This position features a built-in progression pathway to full Directorship.
  • Focus: Operations, Finance, HR, and Fundraising.

Position & Tasks

The Deputy Director will lead the operational backbone of the organization. Key tasks include:

  • Strategic Fundraising: Leading earned-income strategies, philanthropy, and major grant applications.
  • Financial Oversight: Working with the Finance Manager to oversee budgeting, reporting, and organizational sustainability.
  • Team Leadership: Managing HR, professional development, and cultivating a transparent, supportive team culture.
  • Compliance & Planning: Directing organizational planning, governance, and facilities management for the new cultural site.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintaining and growing relationships with partners, funders, and the local community.
