Short Description

Digital on Stage is a 3-year Creative Europe project involving artists, production houses, digital developers and culture experts from all corners of Europe. Our goal is to innovate the performing arts sector across Europe by promoting digital performances and supporting artists and stagehouses in adopting new technologies.

The goal of the cascade funding programme is to foster the European digital performing arts scene, by financially supporting digital productions and setting up a European showcasing network. A total of 24 projects or productions will receive 8000 euro of financial support to help finalize the production. Your production will be internationally showcased at one of the festivals organized by Kilowatt (Italy), MMMAD (Spain) and Cultuurconnect (Belgium) in spring/summer 2026.

Eligibility

The cascade funding programme is aimed at:

  • an artist or collective of artists who need an extra push, for example, to complete an ongoing production, a new artistic approach, purchasing of new equipment, professionalization, post-production…
  • a stage-worthy and tourable performing arts production, to be finalized and performed in spring 2026
  • that is a live physical, phygital or fully digital production in which digital tools or technologies (VR, AR, AI…) are used
  • that can be shown to an international audience (the language used is English or you use English subtitles).
This means that you might also need your own resources, other financial support or other partners to make realize and finalize your production. We accept both ongoing productions and new creations.

How to Apply

Online Application
The application procedure consists of two rounds. After a first online application round, 8 to 10 projects per project partner are selected by a national jury. The selected projects will then be invited for the second application round, where the artist can present the project (live or in a videocall) and the jury can ask additional questions. After the second round, the four final projects are selected.
