The Casa de Velázquez is seeking a Director of Artistic Studies to oversee the institution’s artistic programming, residency coordination, and institutional partnerships. The role involves guiding the Academy’s artistic vision, implementing interdisciplinary initiatives, supporting artists in residence, and ensuring the institution’s impact both locally and internationally. This leadership position emphasizes contemporary art, curatorial practice, and the management of transdisciplinary projects.

Position & Tasks

  • Develop and implement the artistic policy of the Casa de Velázquez.
  • Supervise administrative, technical, and financial aspects of programming.
  • Recruit and mentor artists in residence and scholarship recipients.
  • Define missions of external service providers for exhibitions, concerts, screenings, and professional encounters.
  • Advise the Director and contribute to institutional visibility, project management, communication, and publication.
  • Collaborate with scientific departments and publication services to develop interdisciplinary and hybrid projects.
  • Secure partnerships and funding for transdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Organize events with partner institutions while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor project implementation, budget control, and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Prepare reports and assessments of projects.
