Director of the Institute of Modern Art – Full-Time Position at the Museum
The Museum is seeking an experienced Curator to lead and manage the planning, design, installation, and overall execution of Exhibitions. The role encompasses oversight of the Permanent Collection, curatorial research, public interpretation, educational collaborations, and departmental management. The Curator will contribute to strategic program development, grant administration, and fundraising activities, ensuring alignment with the Museum’s mission and enhancing visitor engagement.

The Role Overview

  • Position Title: Curator
  • Contract Type: Full-time, permanent position
  • Salary: $65,000–$75,000+ depending on experience, plus benefits
  • Reporting To: Executive Director and Museum leadership team
  • Work Schedule: Flexible; includes weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Curatorial Scope: Oversight of Permanent Collection, temporary Exhibitions, research, and public interpretation
  • Program Responsibility: Planning and implementing Museum-wide exhibition and collection strategies

Position & Tasks

The Curator will be responsible for:
  • Leading the development, scheduling, and execution of all Exhibitions, from concept to installation and de-installation
  • Managing the Museum’s Permanent Collection, including acquisitions, research, preservation, and display
  • Collaborating with the education team to design curriculum-based programs and tours related to exhibitions
  • Preparing exhibition catalogs, labels, brochures, and other interpretive materials
  • Administering departmental budgets, grants, and project funding
  • Supervising curatorial staff, volunteers, and interns, providing mentorship and training
  • Coordinating with external stakeholders including artists, collectors, donors, and cultural partners
  • Ensuring exhibition spaces and collections are safe, clean, and visitor-ready
  • Supporting fundraising, public relations, and marketing efforts related to curatorial activities
  • Participating in strategic planning to align curatorial programs with the Museum’s mission

Eligibility
