Organizer Information:
Easttopics is a non-profit initiative dedicated to the promotion of the Eastern European contemporary art field. Since 2019, they have organized the East Call Curatorial Residency, one of the first programs to focus specifically on the region's art scene. The program emphasizes peer learning, collaboration, and exchange across social and cultural contexts.
Title & Description:
Applications are open for the East Call Curatorial Residency 2026.
This intensive 2-week program offers emerging curators a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive insight into the Hungarian and Slovenian contemporary art scenes. Participants will examine these scenes within a broader regional context, fostering dialogue on what constitutes "the curatorial" in Central Eastern Europe.
The schedule focuses on the status of artists, institutional situations, and the roles of curators as mediators. Activities include in-depth investigations of exhibitions, case studies of leading curators, curatorial workshops, and artist studio visits. It is designed as an open, horizontal transfer of knowledge.
