École des Beaux-arts de Bretagne (EESAB) is a French public higher education institution specializing in art and design, with campuses in Brest, Lorient, Quimper and Rennes. The school supports artistic education and professional development across a range of creative disciplines. This residency is part of EESAB’s Et demain! professional integration program. The program is co-developed with the Cité internationale des arts in Paris and supported by the Pierre and Catherine Lalumière Foundation.

École des Beaux-arts de Bretagne x Cité internationale des arts Arist Residency

École des Beaux-arts de Bretagne x Cité internationale des arts Residency is a post-graduate residency designed to support the professional integration of emerging creators who graduated from EESAB. Selected artists will spend two months developing an artistic or research project in Paris while benefiting from professional guidance, networking and immersion within the international artistic community of the Cité internationale des arts.

The residency provides dedicated time and space for research, creation and professional development, with particular attention given to the artistic quality of the proposed project, its relevance to a Paris-based residency and the applicant’s long-term professional development.

Eligibility

This is a restricted/national opportunity, not an open international call. Applicants must:

  • Be graduates of École des Beaux-arts de Bretagne (EESAB).
  • Have obtained their DNSEP degree in 2022, 2023 or 2024.
  • Apply individually; collective applications are not accepted.

The jury will consider the applicant’s professional background, portfolio, proposed research project, working methodology, relevance of the residency in Paris, and existing contacts or partnerships that could contribute to the project’s long-term development.

  • A furnished live-in studio in Paris’s Marais district, combining workspace and accommodation.
  • A €700 net monthly residency grant, paid in two instalments by EESAB.
  • Professional support and networking with the Cité internationale des arts community of approximately 300 resident artists from different nationalities, generations and disciplines.
  • Opportunities to present work developed during the residency through the Cité internationale des arts’ open-studio activities.
  • A professional environment for research, creation and development of future collaborations.

A final report on the residency experience is required.

Additional Details

The application requires a CV of up to 4 pages, an artistic portfolio of approximately ten works with complete captions (maximum 10 pages and 10 MB), and a statement of intent of up to 3 pages. The statement should explain the applicant’s artistic trajectory, proposed research/project, reasons the project requires a Paris residency, and motivation for joining the Cité internationale des arts community.
