Emerging Curator Residency Program 2026–2027

This program provides a unique opportunity for early-career curators, architects, historians, designers, and researchers under 30 to develop a curatorial project at the CCA. Selected candidates propose innovative projects exploring contemporary debates in architecture, urbanism, landscape, and social dynamics. The residency emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, mentorship, and hands-on experience in curatorial practice. Projects may result in editorial work, exhibitions, workshops, digital content, or public programs, encouraging participants to engage with diverse voices and experimental formats.

Eligibility

  • Open to international candidates aged 30 or younger (as of January 1, 2026).
  • Professionals in architecture, journalism, design, criticism, history, photography, art, or related fields.
  • Collective or collaborative projects are welcome.
  • Applicants must propose new, unpublished, or unrealized projects.

Program Benefits & Awards

  • Mentorship: Two-month remote mentorship (Sept–Oct 2026) for three finalists.
  • Support Fee: CAD 1,000 during mentorship.
  • Residency: Three-month residency at CCA in Montréal (Jan–June 2027).
  • Funding: CAD 12,000 for travel, housing, and living expenses; project production funded by CCA.
  • Professional Development: Direct engagement with the CCA curatorial team and institutional resources.
  • Visibility: Opportunity to implement the project in collaboration with CCA; other finalist projects published online.
