Organizer Information:
0—1 Gallery. An international platform that builds an ongoing story about humanity—or its absence—by inviting artists to imagine roughly ten years into the future.
Title & Description:
Applications are open for ESC 2036: 0—1.
Each year, ESC invites artists to imagine roughly a decade ahead, focusing on pressure points like climate change, extraction, life within systems, and what it means to remain human. The organizers are seeking works that speak of nature, technology, or human existence—from subtle gestures to monumental systems—reflecting on how the mind and society will evolve alongside AI, simulations, and shifting ecological terms.
Category:
Multidisciplinary (Includes new media, painting, sculpture, installation, performance, sound, photography, graphics, video, mixed media, AR/VR, 3D, and writing).
Eligibility:
- Who: Open to artists at any stage, from any place worldwide. Age, gender, location, and background are not used as filters.
- Project Status: Completed projects are strongly preferred. New projects are only welcome if they can realistically be realized in time for the exhibition.
- Submission Format: Artists MUST submit only a single link (one link per artist or team). Whether you work alone or collaboratively, you must provide just one link to your portfolio, website, or specific project page.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Exhibition: Selected works will be shown in a curated physical group exhibition in 2026–2027 in the Netherlands.
- Exposure: Feature spots highlighting your project on the gallery's website and social media.
- Network & Mentorship: Connection to an international network of artists, curators, institutions, and collectors. Selected artists become part of the 0—1 network, gaining ongoing support for finding a gallery, curatorial input, or peer exchange.
Application Fee & Program Costs:
- Application Fee: Free to apply.
Application Requirements:
- No Lengthy Forms: Submissions are done purely by sending a single link that gives the curators a place to start exploring your wider portfolio and context. (Note: The organizers strongly recommend reviewing previous ESC exhibitions on their website before applying).
