Everything But The Work is a creative platform founded in 2024 by Ashley Diane Saldana and Karly Jean Kainz. The project focuses on revealing the everyday thoughts, rituals, and inspirations behind an artist’s practice — without ever showing the final work. By sharing insights into process, influence, and reflection, Everything But The Work offers an honest, playful, and vulnerable look at how artists create, think, and live. Currently based on Instagram, the project continues to grow as an ongoing exploration of artistic practice and connection.

Open Call: 2026 Featured Artist – Quarter 1 (Online)
Each week, Everything But The Work highlights one artist for an intimate look into their creative process. Over five days (Monday–Friday), selected artists are featured on the project’s Instagram and website, offering a deep dive into their practice through themed daily posts:

  • Monday: Introduction – Who are you and what do you make?
  • Tuesday: Processes – What does your practice look like?
  • Wednesday: Influences – Who or what inspires you?
  • Thursday: Challenges – What’s an obstacle you’ve overcome?
  • Friday: Reflections – What’s next?

This open call invites artists and creatives of all disciplines to share the ideas, moments, and experiences that shape their work. The project celebrates authenticity and connection — encouraging participants to explore the “why” behind their creative journey.
