Woman Made Gallery (WMG). One of the longest continually operating feminist art spaces in the United States, shaped by decades of community care and the ongoing fight to claim space for marginalized artists.
Title & Description:
Applications are open for the Feminism 250: Woman Made America exhibition.
Timed to the 250th anniversary of the United States, this exhibition looks back at the long history of feminist movements, activism, and cultural resistance. The gallery is seeking artworks that explore themes like the struggle for visibility, intersectionality (experiences of gender, race, class, disability, and migration), personal narratives, and visions for a feminist future.

Multidisciplinary (Includes 2D, 3D, Mixed Media, and New Media).
Eligibility:
- Who: Open strictly to women and nonbinary artists at all career stages.
- AI Ban: Submitted work must be fully original. Submissions that primarily use AI image-generation tools or AI text will NOT be accepted.
- Size & Weight Limits: Artworks cannot exceed 6 feet in width or weigh more than 75 pounds, unless the artist is able to personally drop off and pick up the work.
- Previous Works: Artwork that has already been exhibited at Woman Made Gallery is not eligible for this specific show.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Exhibition: A physical gallery exhibition in Chicago, Illinois (August 29 – September 26, 2026).
- Sales: Artworks can be listed for sale or Not For Sale (NFS). (Note: WMG keeps a 40% commission on any artwork sold during the exhibition).
Application Fee & Program Costs:
- Application Fee: $30 USD.
- Shipping: Artists are fully responsible for hand-delivering or shipping their artworks to the gallery so they arrive "ready to exhibit."
Application Requirements:
- Submission Limits: Artists may submit a maximum of 2 entries. Each entry can include 1 to 3 images.
- File Formatting: Accepted file types are JPG, MP4, and PNG. The maximum file size is 3MB per image.
- Required Documents: A brief artist statement is required, and it must clearly explain how your work connects to the exhibition's feminist theme.
